NSBC Youth Mission Statement LEARN to know Jesus Christ so we may LIVE a life dedicated to Him in order to LEAD others to a saving knowledge of our Lord. The primary mission of our youth program is to ensure that each teen is taught to have a personal relationship with Jesus as their Lord and Savior and equip them to live out their faith and disciple others. Probably most youth who come to Sunday school, even for the first time, will have a grasp of the basic concept of God. Most will know about Jesus. Our Youth Program mission is to show these youth their need for the Savior, baptize those who heed Jesus' call, and invest personally as individuals, as a youth class and through our church body into raising up a disciple who will reproduce. Jesus demonstrated a discipling model whereby He chose a small group of men and women into whom He invested deeply. He invested prayer, time, and scripture studies that were all homegrown. He was not formally trained and He did not require a theology degree or even formal education from His disciples. Instead, He shared sorrows, joys, meals, prayers, and parables with His disciples. He modeled preaching and invited the multitudes to follow Him but He discipled through relationships. By following His example with our youth program we will be honoring the very Word of God and should expect Him to bless our labors to His glory. Chip |
